An exquisite piece, a fresh print from the stamp with PROOFLIKE effect on the obverse. Convex SAMPLE inscription on the reverse. Design by Antoni Madeyski widely known from circulating 2, 5 and 10 zloty coins. The 1 zloty coin never entered circulation, because as a circulation coin it was to be minted in 500 proof, and the Warsaw Mint had a problem with obtaining a high quality alloy of this proof; for this reason the 1 zloty coins are known only as proof coins minted in 750 pr.silver. Mintage of 120 pieces. Definitely more interesting than the well-known circulating 5 or 10 zloty coins.
