Original minted in 1636 to commemorate the liberation of Smolensk from the siege of the Muscovites. Obverse: Ladislaus IV accepts the surrender of the Muscovite army, in the back Smolensk and the military camp, around the inscription. Reverse: the king, accompanied by the army, receives Turkish and Swedish messengers, above the king's head an angel with a wreath and palm branch, around the inscription: ET BELLO ET PACE COLENDVS TVRCAE PACEM FERENTES ET SVECI (worthy of respect in both war and peace, the Turks and Swedes offer peace). High-quality, 19th century casting with no signs of chiseling. Bronze. The medal from the 285th Auction of the well-known German numismatic company Gerhard Hirsch Nahfolger in September 2012. It was sold there for the equivalent of about 8,000 gold. A great impressive numismatic piece.
