R-, Medal 1888, Bishop Michael Nowodworski, bronze 50mm

A beautiful mint uncirculated piece, but has a few scratches in the background. Medal by Ignacy Lopienski, minted in 1888 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his editorial work in the Catholic Review. On the obverse a bust of a canon to the left, signed I. Ł. 88, and an inscription MICHAEL NOWODWORSKI S T D CAN VARSAV MDCCCLXIII - LXXXVIII, on the reverse under the star a horizontal inscription in Latin PERFIDOS COMPESCVIT / FIDELIVM ANIMOS EREXIT / AD.
